In 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court's infamous Kelo decision expanded the use of private land for commercial purposes, further empowering wealthy special business interests to seize your family home. Amd it's happening right here in Ohio with a parallel case, City of Norwood v. Horney, now awaiting decision by the Ohio Supreme Court legal briefs.
Unless you have had a personal experience or actually witnessed the wholesale abuse of eminent domain you may not fully appreciate the call by the Ohio Farm Bureau and other respected organizations to curb and end the practice. American citizens who have lived their whole lives and retired on land they have already paid for are falling victim to unscrupulous corporate types who may view the developing area as a golden investment opportunity irrespective of private citizens rights. Shame on them. Let's change the law right here in Ohio and make these practices illegal.
