Personal
Background: I was born in Harveysburg,
Ohio, on May 12, 1947. I attended
Massie Local Schools in Harveysburg,
which housed grades one through
twelve in the same building.
A community consolidation program,
which merged the Harveysburg
School with three other struggling
high Schools in the early sixties,
would finally record my graduation
from Clinton Massie High School
in Clarksville, Ohio. I was
a member of the Zion Baptist
Church -- a link along the Underground
Railroad -- where I was baptized
at age 11. Currently I am a
Member of the Israel Baptist
Missionary Church located in
Forest Park, Ohio, where I am
a Deacon.
From October of 1964 till September
of 1967, I served in the U.S.
Army. In November of 1967, I
hired on at General Motors in
Dayton, Ohio, where I remained
until my retirement in April
of 1998. While employed by General
Motors, I was represented by
I.U.E. Local - 755.
In 1972 I made another very
important choice, I married
Carolyn, a very refined public
school teacher, who has since
retired. After marrying in 1972,
I enrolled in college. Making
full utilization of the G. I.
Bill, I graduated from Wilmington
College with a Bachelor of Science
degree in "Industrial and Labor
Relations," in 1978. I attended
the University of Cincinnati
grad School in 1979. I hold
a certificate of completion
in Mayor's Court Education,
from "The Ohio Municipal League",
State of Ohio, 1992.
I have five brothers and one
sister of which I am eldest.
The late William T. Sanders
and Ida Francis Sanders were
my parents. My hobbies consist
of travel, driving tour buses,
trap shooting, and playing my
piano.
