Friends from the far reaches
of Montgomery County, through
Clinton, and Warren Counties,
to the extreme south eastern
expanses of Highland County,
as I seek your vote to serve
in the United States Congress,
let me first celebrate your
being the basis upon which
we will build a new grass
roots approach to government.
May you always remember meeting
Charles Sanders a well prepared
public servant. Over the past
three decades, I have served
on Committees, Council, as
Mayor and as Vice Chairman
for the Warren County Municipal
League. I am also a United
States Army Veteran, having
served from 1964 - 1967 and
a General Motors Corporation
retiree, having worked from
1968 - 1998.
I think government is designed
to help people, otherwise
why is it needed. Elected
officials are measured by
how productive they are at
doing what each sets out to
do. As your congressman, I
will consistently work to
improve the education of children
in this district. As your
congressman, I will promote
access to affordable health
care for the 45 million Americans
who have no benefits and face
soaring costs? As your congressman,
I will have empathy for you
and your circumstances such
as-working two jobs to get
by, facing layoff from an
outsourced job or closed plant
and work to find solutions
to your problems. As your
congressman, I will work to
provide regional jobs with
a living wage. As your congressman,
I will work to keep Social
Security viable.
The hope I have for you,
the Third District, and all
of this country is one of
eternal optimism. A unified
effort is required to develop
new arenas for prosperity
through expanded regional
cooperation. I will be a catalyst
to forge new economic coalitions
to counter the unique challenges
facing businesses today. There
is no question that policy
changes are needed to stem
the colossal tide of good
jobs leaving America for destinations
overseas. By drafting employment
and employer friendly legislation,
I will work as a change agent
to enable small business people
including health care professionals,
contractors, and farmers along
with industrial workers, and
technical employees to compete
from a level playing field
and thrive by providing goods
and services to advance positive
new growth and development.
Statistics suggest that foreign
educated students are far
more versed in math and science
than American students. Since
Americans have fallen behind
in the academics, we now have
nations like India providing
customer service and technical
support for large corporations.
I will work to promote the
relocation of such jobs here
in our country. The "No
Child Left Behind Act,"
though designed to measure
and promote the adequate yearly
progress of each student in
selected academic areas, has
caused hardships in this District
because it does not provide
funding to assure that the
proposed outcomes are met.
Will you give me your support
to fund "No Child Left
Behind," and improve
the education levels of students
in the Third District and
by proxy through out America?
The Third Congressional District
will reach a new level of
regional opportunity and prosperity
if we improve our skills in
education and technology and
provide customer service and
technical support in our own
country.
Not so long ago it was realistic
to expect full medical benefits
and a pension plan from employment.
We all know that we can no
longer expect this today.
My efforts will be to revolutionize
the undeniable challenge this
presents most young families
beginning their careers. The
act of providing for your
family is not only a Democratic
and a Republican concept,
but also a universal expectation.
As your congressman, I will
work to create an economic
environment in which anyone
who wants to earn a living
wage may do so.
We are all in this together
and I would like nothing more
than to set human achievement
on an unequivocal success
mode and eliminate the Scrooge
mentality of intellectual
pessimists who trick hard
working citizens into believing
there is no hope, even though
we live in America, the most
advanced civilization in the
twenty-first century. I have
lived and worked in what is
now called the third Congressional
District for all of my life
except for my time away in
the United States Army. You
may remember that a few years
ago, Montgomery County comprised
most of the Third District
and was a Democratic strong
hold. After the district lines
were changed by Republicans
to improve their chances in
congressional elections, the
proportional number of Democrats
in this district was lowered.
In spite of this, we Democrats
in Montgomery, northern Warren,
Clinton, and Highland Counties
must select the best candidate,
Charles W. Sanders, in the
March 4th Democratic Primary
and then work
to unseat the incumbent who
has little contact with working
Americans, those who rely
on a well funded Social Security
System, or Veterans who need
daily care at facilities in
their community. Many of you
like I, are real go getters,
who have contributed to your/our
communities through employment
and public service. We must
combine our efforts with other
likeminded citizens and give
this district empathetic compassionate
representation by electing
Charles W. Sanders . the man
you know and the name you
can trust.
If you really want an exciting
and spirited discussion and
addressing of all the topics
and issues that are of concern
to you, then plan now to vote
for Charles W. Sanders. I
look forward with great optimism
to your enlisted support.
The special interest groups
who out number legislators
in Washington are not our
moral compass but rather hired
guns directed to influence
federal, state and local legislation
favorable to their respective
very wealthy corporate sponsors.
Such bureaucratic red tape
should not unduly subvert
your ability to be heard.
As your congressman, I will
address topics and issues
of concern to citizens of
the Third District.
Isn't it time that you entrust
a fellow hard working, God
fearing public servant to
challenge proposals which
do not agree with your sense
of reasoning? Please join
me in proactively changing
the tone in America by altering
the political landscape with
your vote. Take a bite out
of the special interest groups
and light the flame of liberty
again. Real Americans think
and ask questions for a stronger
democracy. Stand up for America.
Vote
for Charles W. Sanders on
March 4th, 2008.
Respectfully yours,
Charles W. Sanders
Democratic Candidate for Ohio’s
Third District
